KCC Board of Governors
The KCC Board of Governors is a representative group of fellow members that work hard to implement ideas for a better KCC.

Dr. Craig Stull, President
Term Expires 2012

Craig and his wife Maria have been members since 2000. He graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1990 and received his D.C. from the National College of Chiropractic in 1997. He maintains his private practice in Portage. His three children (Luke, Elizabeth, and Emily) are involved in tennis, golf and swimming at the Club. Craig is an avid golfer, but he also plays platform tennis and tennis. He is involved as Chair of the Golf Activities Committee and also serves on the Greens Committee, as well as the Personnel Committee.

 


Matthew McDade, Vice President
Term Expires 2013

Matthew McDade has been a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo and a KCC member since 2002. Matthew is 46 years old and is a graduate of Portage Northern High School. He holds a BBA and MBA in finance from Western Michigan University. Matthew began his banking career as a commercial lender for First of America specializing in small business and middle market lending. In 1999, Matthew became the Community Bank President for Republic Bank in Kalamazoo. As one of eight bank presidents for Republic Bank Matthew managed the Western Michigan operation for the bank. In 2008, Matthew formed McDade Capital which specializes in debt and equity placement, loan restructuring, and business consulting for commercial real estate investors and business owners throughout the Midwest.

Matthew is married to his wife of 16-years, Michelle McDade. Together they have four children, Kailee (14), Patrick (11), Claire (8) and Catherine (6).  The family is active in supporting non-profit efforts of the community via Kalamazoo Rotary Club, Kalamazoo Institute of Arts and the Junior League of Kalamazoo.

 

Jerry Miller

Term Expires 2012

Jerry attended Harvard University and graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then attended the University of Michigan and graduated in 1971 with a professional doctorate in law. For 20 year. Jerry began practicing law in 1971 in Kalamazoo and has been a successful businessman ever since. In the past, Jerry has served as a member of the YMCA Board of Directors, as well as a member of the YMCA Board of Trustees. He currently sits on the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Foundation Board of Directors, the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival Board of Trustees, and is the current chairman of the Bronson Health Foundation Board of Directors. Jerry enjoys spending his time with his wife Susan, his five children Christopher, Carol, Molly, Connor, Emily, and also his pet dog. 

 

Simone Riggs
Term Expires 2012

Simone and her husband Jeff have been members of KCC since 2005. She holds a Masters degree in social work as well as in Business Administration. Before moving to Kalamazoo, Simone lived in Ann Arbor, where she was a supervisor in clinical work. She enjoys spending time with her family which includes her two sons, Isaac and Ian. Simone is very active in the ladies' golf and tennis programs and is looking forward to being a board member for a club that she greatly enjoys.

 

 

Dr. Larry Schlack
Term Expires 2013

Larry is a Michigan native, having lived in Detroit, Traverse City, East Lansing, Ann Arbor, Saginaw and now in Kalamazoo for many years.  He has been involved in Michigan education in several roles including professor of Educational Leadership at Western Michigan University, superintendent at Barry Intermediate School District in Hastings, and project administrator at Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency. His degrees are a B.A. from Michigan State University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.  Although mostly retired he stays active in current education issues through a part time office at Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency.  He and his wife Marilyn have been members of the Kalamazoo Country Club since 1982.  Their son Mike lives in Kalamazoo which is an added pleasure in their lives.

 

Amy Novak, Secretary
Term Expires 2013
Amy was born and raised here in Kalamazoo by her parents, Dick and Priscilla Washburn, who are current members of KCC. She attended the Kalamazoo Public Schools and graduated from Loy Norrix in 1986. She then studied advertising at Michigan State University and earned her BA in Advertising in 1990. She received most of her advertising work experience in Chicago at two ad agencies (Goble & Associates and Abelson-Taylor) over the course of 8+ years. She was the Media Director at Abelson-Taylor (a large healthcare advertising agency) until she started her own business of media consulting in 2000 (Strategic Media Consulting, Inc.). Over the years she has worked with companies like Abbott Pharmaceuticals, Bayer Corporation, TAP Pharmaceuticals, TEVA, Genzyme Therapeutics, and more. In her current business she works with many biotech companies (Genzyme and InterMune to name a couple) and also with several healthcare ad agencies. Amy's  board experience includes serving several years on her industry board, the Midwest Healthcare Marketing Association (a handful of the years were in executive roles...VP of Communications, etc.). Also, she spent five active years in the Junior League of Kalamazoo, including a couple of terms in leadership roles (Chair of Placement, Assistant Chair of Marketing, etc.).

John Schreuder
Term Expires 2014


John came to Kalamazoo to attend Western Michigan University, and after obtaining his CPA Certification, while employed at Ernst and Young, he joined First National Bank and Trust of Michigan which eventually
became First of America and National City Bank. John Schreuder helped start First National Bank of Michigan in 2006, a locally owned community bank, along with a team of investors and Directors, all from Kalamazoo.
John and his wife, Jane have been KCC members for over 20 years and their 4 children and 8 grandchildren continue to enjoy the Club. John is on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, the Michigan Bankers Association, as well as the Board of Heritage Community and the Kalamazoo Christian School Foundation. John looks forward to making a positive contribution to the KCC Board and to help insure the long term future of the club.

A.J. Todd
Term Expires 2014

A.J. has been a life-long member of the Kalamazoo Country Club.  He grew up at the Kalamazoo Country Club playing golf, tennis and swimming.  A.J. got both his BA in 1995 and his MBA in 2005 at the University of Michigan.  He works at the A.M. Todd Company and leads the Procurement department on a Global basis.  A.J. currently is the Vice-President of the Lakeside for Children Board and the treasurer of the Sherman Lake YMCA Board.  He also is the treasurer of the MIRC Board which is a research and trade organization for his industry.  A.J. has run the KCC Invitational for the last 14 years.  A.J., his wife Cathy, and his kids, Will (11) and Peter (9) love KCC and look forward to using the club for many more years.

Katy Verduzco
Term Expires 2014

Katy is a third generation Kalamazoo Country Club member.  She and her husband, Steve, joined the KCC in 2001 when Steve accepted a Sales Manager position with Eli Lilly and Company in Kalamazoo.  Her parents, Bert and Terri Cooper, are also current members.  Katy graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1995 with a B.B.A. in Accounting.  She worked as a C.P.A. in northern California for BDO Seidman, Deloitte & Touche and Ensim Corp., an internet startup company, for ten years before starting a family.  Today, she stays busy keeping up with her four children, Will (10), Sara (8), Nick (6) and David (4).  They are actively involved in club activities including golf, junior tennis, Kid’s Club, swim team, and the annual Watershow.  Katy also works as a fitness instructor at West Hills Athletic Club and the YMCA and volunteers at St. Augustine where her children attend school.  Though she was an Academic All-American and Captain of the Notre Dame golf team, Katy doesn’t play nearly as much golf as she would like, but she enjoys Friday night twilights, club golf events and being a part of the KCC Invitational committee
