The Junior Golf Program
Junior golfers at KCC have access to a model program. The program consists of instruction followed by on course playing. All participants receive a favor, weekly prizes and our year end cook-out.
Your professional staff conducts these lessons. Lessons are conducted on a weekday morning after school is out and continue through the first week in August. Age groups are as follows: 6 & under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, 16+. Parent participation is helpful to "monitor" play and golf activities. Private junior lessons are also offered by the professional staff. If you are interested, please contact someone on the professional staff.
The father-child, mother-child, club championship and junior fun day and cookout are highlights of this program.
Proper equipment is vital to juniors. Too many times juniors receive "hand-me-downs" which do not fit the youngsters. Let the P.G.A. staff help you find the correct size clubs for your junior golfer.
As for when juniors can play, their hours and days are somewhat restricted, so I ask you check those rules in the club roster.
And finally, while we are interested in making better players of our juniors, we also work very hard at teaching them to be better "golf citizens". Keeping their temper under control, learning the rules of the game as well as the rules of the club, honesty, treating other players with respect ara areas they are well exposed to during the season. Regardless of the skill level they attain, hopefully they will learn that golf is a game of honor, which "counting them all" and enforcing the rules of te game on themselves is really what this game is all about.
