Our adult program offers league play, instructional opportunities, and open formats to enable player development. The junior program includes the three essential developmental components: 1) instruction, 2) supervised match play, and 3) formal competition...all of which are combined in a fun format at KCC!
KCC Junior Tennis Program
To all of you who have yet to experience the KCC Junior Tennis Program,
you owe it to your kids to give it a try. Over the years, we have
facilitated the development of hundreds of kids who now associate
playing tennis with having fun!Star Program
This component of our Junior Development Program continues to provide the foundation for learning the game. For many of the kids, it's their first tennis experience and therefore, the overall goal is to provide a fun learning environment. Our player/pro/court ratio is 5:1:1 and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
At the Future Star level (4-6 years old), players learn the basic
strokes, rules and general tennis vocabulary. It's quite awesome to
watch these kids develop social and physical skills!
Our Young Stars (7-10 years old) experience lots of action with drills, games and "short court" playing situations. At the same time, an introduction to playing from the baseline is incorporated.
As a Super Star (10-13 years old), all players are developing their groundstrokes from the baseline and are using the continental grip for their serve and net play.
Competitive Program
For our upper level junior players who are looking to advance their games and experience the many outlets that are available to formally compete. Classes meet twice weekly and are combined with drop-in match play opportunities intended to round out the developmental process.
Junior Competitive Players (10-14 years old) have attained solid fundamental skills. Stroke production, point situations, and supervised match play are the featured components. These players are ready for interclub matches, intraclub match play and novice to intermediate level tournaments.
Senior Competitive Players (13-18 years old) have more diverse and varied playing experiences. We identify styles of play and work to develop both strengths and weaknesses through instruction, supervised match play, and formal competition.
Member & Guest Tennis Etiquette
1. All players must check in at the Tennis Shop and be registered on the "KCC Court Reservation Sheet" prior to playing.
2. Court reservations may be made up to 7 days in advance through the Tennis Shop at 345-3158.
3. All members must register their guests with the Tennis Shop before play. A $5.00 fee per guest will apply. Fees entitle the guest to an entire day of tennis at KCC.
4. Proper tennis attire is required at all times. Shirts must be worn at all times.
5. Adults have priority over junior tennis players on weekends.
