Board Member — 2022
Originally from the south, Emily studied Interior Design at the University of Kentucky College of Design and moved to Chicago to work for The Environments Group and Perkins & Will. As an NCIDQ certified and LEED accredited professional, she has collaborated on corporate, educational, worship, wellness, and residential interiors around the country. Now self-employed, she focuses on projects in southwest Michigan and Chicago. Since childhood, Emily has been involved with a wide variety of non-profit organizations that promote environmental stewardship and the equity, safety, connectivity, and goodness of all people.
Emily moved to her husband Ryan’s hometown, and they joined KCC in 2008. They love traveling with their kids, Clara (age 8), Charlotte (age 6), and Teak (age 4), but you can regularly find them along the shores of Lake Michigan, downtown Kalamazoo, or running around the club. Just a few miles from their home, KCC has become part of their weekly routine where staff members know the kids’ meal orders and teach them new skills in the pool and on the tennis courts. It also hosts many holiday traditions and has introduced them to some of their favorite local friends. Emily looks forward to serving the community that has given more than she anticipated.
