A New Era of Golf at Kalamazoo Country Club

The Transformation Has Begun

Kalamazoo Country Club is entering a bold new chapter. Construction is officially underway on a complete golf course transformation that will redefine the game in Southwest Michigan, starting with an 11-hole short course and culminating in a brand-new 18-hole championship course designed by renowned architect Andrew Green.

Now Under Construction: 11-Hole Short Course
The first visible step in this transformation is KCC’s 11-hole short course, with play expected to begin in spring 2026. Divided into two distinct loops—Blue and Red—this new course is designed for players of all skill levels. Whether you’re practicing your short game or enjoying a quick round with friends and family, the short course offers a faster, more flexible way to play.

Coming Soon: 18-Hole Championship Course
In August 2025, construction begins on KCC’s brand-new 18-hole championship course, with member play anticipated in spring 2027. This will be Andrew Green’s first original full 18-hole course—a landmark project that blends artistry, challenge, and natural beauty across 145 acres. The course will expand total green space by 30%, elevating both playability and competitive potential.

“Kalamazoo is going to have a golf course that people travel to play, not just because it’s new, but because it’s memorable.” - Andrew Green

Green, one of the most respected figures in modern course design, brings a personal passion and hands-on approach to KCC—shaping holes on-site and honoring the land’s natural contours to create what he calls a “golf cathedral.”

11-Hole Short Course

Slated to Open for the 2026 Season

The tradition of a short course has long been part of the Kalamazoo Country Club experience, but now it takes on a bold new form as the first original golf course design by acclaimed architect Andrew Green. This 11-hole layout is designed to be as strategic as it is fun. With holes ranging from 50 to 185 yards, it’s a place where every club in the bag, and every type of golfer, can find the right challenge. Whether you’re a seasoned player refining your short game or a young golfer just beginning to fall in love with the sport, this course is built to meet you where you are. The layout offers flexibility: the northern loop tops out at 135 yards, ideal for junior golfers and quick rounds, while the southern holes add more challenge, reaching 185 yards. Both sections can be played independently or together, allowing for multiple uses and endless variety. As Andrew Green puts it, “It’s best golf for everybody, not the best golf for the best players.” Play it as a warm-up, a family outing, or a late-day unwind with a drink in hand. However you choose to enjoy it, the KCC Short Course promises creativity, community, and pure golf joy.

18-Hole Championship Golf Course

Slated to Open for the 2027 Season

Designed to captivate and challenge players of every skill level, the new Championship Course is a true test of strategy, creativity, and precision. Every hole invites thoughtful decision-making and rewards a full range of shot-making, offering a dynamic golf experience that evolves with every round. At the heart of the design is the stunning Whites Lake. At least seven holes either play alongside it or frame its sweeping vistas, reclaiming the dramatic views once reserved for the old clubhouse and turning them into unforgettable moments throughout the course. Crafted to feel timeless yet fresh on every visit, this course will set a new standard for championship golf in Southwest Michigan.

“At the end of the day, the best golf courses are the best experiences. And everything that we’re trying to do here at Kalamazoo Country Club is about making it the best experience for you.” – Andrew Green
