What to Bring to Kalamazoo Golf Courses

An afternoon on the golf course is supposed to be a lot of things: peaceful, fun, relaxing, challenging. What it’s not supposed to be, however, is frustrating. And when it comes to golfing, few things are more frustrating than being on the fourth hole and realizing you forgot a piece of golf equipment you really needed.
Here at the Kalamazoo Country Club, we understand how frustrating it is to forget to bring something to the golf course. That’s why we’re taking this month’s blog post to review 4 items you should always bring golfing.
Extra Golf Balls (And Then a Few More)
It’s always prudent to bring extra golf balls to the course. Even if you rarely lose golf balls, it’s always a good idea to bring extras in case your current ones are damaged, land in the water, or just don’t feel right. Besides, you don’t want to be the person who spends 15 minutes looking for their golf ball instead of just dropping another one.
An Umbrella
You don’t want to be out on the golf course in the pouring rain without and umbrella. And you especially don’t want to be stuck in the rain if you don’t use a golf cart.
Even on days where the chances of rain are low, it’s always a good idea to bring an umbrella to the country club. Though sunscreen is a definite item to bring, nothing protects you from the sun on a golf course quite like an umbrella.
Golf Ball Markers
You’d be surprised by how many people don’t pack golf ball markers in with their other golf equipment. Though you can technically use just about anything, we recommend that you don’t use anything too lightweight (such as anything made of paper) or anything so large it could obstruct a putt (such as a golf club).
If you don’t already have a golf ball marker, then make sure to pick one up at Horton’s Haberdashery before you hit the greens. Or, in a pinch, you can even just use a poker chip if you don’t have a proper, weighted marker.
Club Cleaning Equipment
It’s important to always bring golf club cleaning equipment with you to the course. Though, that’s a job easier said than done without the right tools. Here’s a quick list of equipment we recommend for keeping your clubs clean:
- Microfiber cloth
- Dishwashing soap
- Golf club headcovers
- A soft bristle brush
